The main Visas in this category are:

  • Family Members – There are a number of migration options for fiancés, partners, children, parents and other family members of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens. These Visas can be permanent or temporary. While Permanent Visas have a validity of 5 years and may be extended, Temporary Visas are used in a wide variety of situations where people come to Australia for periods of up to four years, and not initially for permanent residence. It is possible in many situations to apply to change from a temporary visa to a permanent resident visa from within Australia.
  • Returning Residents – For current or former Australian permanent residents, or former Australian citizens to re-enter Australia.
  • Refugees and Humanitarian Visas

Please note that in some cases you must apply for a Temporary Visa before being eligible for a Permanent one. In other cases you can apply for a Permanent Visa straight away. Please consult our experts as to which Visa is the right one for you.
